The Conclusion of the Battle of Ingalls

the Doolin Gamg
In the middle of the Battle of Ingalls between the Feds and the Doolin/Dalton Gang, Rose Dunn aka the Rose of Cimmaron ran carrying guns, ammo and supplies.  When her husband George Newcomb, went down with a bullet in the leg and lost his gun, Rose ran out into the middle of the battle to retrieve a fresh gun for George.  The chivalrous Marshalls held their fire while Rose got her gun and returned to George. :)

At twilight with George badly wounded, they made their escape.  Rose nursed her husband for weeks on the lam, hiding out in Indian Territory.  For four years the Doolin Gang lived in hideouts with an occasional run to the local bank to "borrow" money. One winter afternoon, George and a companion were ambushed on their way by the Feds and shot dead in the saddle.

Rose went on to marry a blacksmith, a much different man than George, and settled down and faded from public life, but not before she left her mark on history as a pistol packing mama!

Next time...off to Texas Cattle Country...
