Frontier Fridays: Old Fasioned Tips for the Kitchen

Use a normal ice cream scoop for an exact 1/4 cup measure - who knew?

When aluminum utensils become discolored, use them for cooking cranberries or tomatoes and they will brighten automatically without any harmful chemicals.

Want to reheat rolls without them becomng rock hard?  Heat in a very low oven 170-200 degrees for 30 minutes and you will have soft, warm rolls.  You can repeat this over and over without the rolls hardening.

Save cereals leftovers - those little bits and pieces at the bottom of the box, in a container and crush all types together for use in coating meats and vegetables, making meatloaf, and topping casseroles.

For the very best fried chicken, let the coated chicken pieces sit for 30 minutes after flouring before cooking.  Even though it might not look pretty, the juices are sealed in and it will be moister and more delicious!

Stick a toothpick into any clove of garlic that you add to stews, soups or cooked dishes.  Makes it easy to remove before serving!

 Happy Cooking!
