For the 1st Friday - here are some tips for getting your home in shape for summer. Spring Cleaning Pioneer Style.
To Polish Windows - Never put soap upon glass unless it can be thoroughly washed off which can not be done with window glass. Wash off specks with warm tea, and rub the panes dry, then make a paste of whiting and water, and put a little in the center of each pane. Take a dry cloth and rub it over the glass, then rub it off with a chamois-skin or flannel, and your glass will shine like crystal.
Sweeping Under Beds - In doing this work, a damp cloth will be more effective than a broom. Old housewives are in favor of a special beating and airing during the month of March as they believe that if insects and their eggs are disposed of at this time, they will trouble you for the rest of the year.
Sweeping Carpets - Using tea leaves to sweep carpets can leave stains. Instead try using fresh cut grass as it prevents dust better and gives carpets a fresh bright look. (Hmmmm!)
