The Creeks who were unwilling to live according to the treaty of the Horseshoe Battle, moved to Florida where they joined scattered local tribes and bands of escaped slaves to become known as the Seminole Indians.(Runaways)
For 50 years they conducted long and effective campaigns which caused the United States military considerable expense and embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson caught a pair of Englishmen as spies, reported later to be an innocent trader and gentleman traveler. Jackson believed they were intent on stirring up the Seminoles and hung both men, causing quite an international incident.
Jackson led his troops west without bloodshed and took Pensacola from the Spanish which made the annexation of Florida all but inevitable.
